Alumna Wins Merseyside Women of the Year Award

Vocal alumna Kathryn Rudge has won the Merseyside Women of the Year Arts and Culture Award.

Celebrating the achievements of women across the North West county, the Merseyside Women of the Year Awards was established to reward the best of the best and to leave a legacy for the next generation.

Liverpool-born mezzo-soprano Kathryn, who graduated in 2011, made her début with English National Opera, Glyndebourne and Opera North within 12 months of leaving the RNCM and was recently announced as one of the College’s inaugural Honorary Associate Artists.

The 29-year-old, a BBC News Generation Artist until 2017, was awarded the title on Friday 24 June at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Liverpool in recognition of her singing achievements and her work in the music community, which includes the Mersey Wave Music project, co-founded by Kathryn in 2013.

She described the occasion as being a ‘great day’ with the award being ‘the icing on the cake!’
