GRAMMY‑nominated Sitar Maestro Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan comes to Manchester.

This September, Pinro Media Ltd. presents the inaugural edition of Legacy of the Maestros™, bringing one of India’s most revered classical musicians, Ustad Shujaat Husain Khan, to Manchester for a rare and intimate performance.

A GRAMMY‑nominated sitar virtuoso and seventh‑generation custodian of the Imdadkhani Gharana, Khan is the son and musical heir of the legendary Ustad Vilayat Khan, whose innovations redefined the instrument for the modern era. He is internationally celebrated for his pioneering gayaki ang style, which gives the sitar the lyrical expressiveness of the human voice. His illustrious career includes over 100 recordings and performances on the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Kennedy Center, and the United Nations Assembly Hall in Geneva. His work with the Indo‑Persian ensemble Ghazal earned a GRAMMY nomination for the acclaimed album The Rain (recorded in 2001, released in 2003), alongside Kayhan Kalhor and Sandeep Das.

Joining Khan are two of India’s most dynamic young tabla players: Zuheb Ahmed Khan, an acclaimed representative of the Ajrada Gharana, and Shariq Mustafa, a fifth‑generation exponent of the Farukhabad Gharana. Together, the trio will present a multi-layered dialogue between melody and rhythm, offering Manchester audiences an evening of musical storytelling at the highest level.
