Yuanfan Yang

An alumni of the UK’s Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music, and the Royal Northern College of Music, Yuanfan Yang has won major awards including First Prize at the 2025 Ricard Viñes International Piano Competition, First Prize and Audience Prize at the 2022 Casagrande International Piano Competition, and Second Prize at the 2022 Hong Kong International Piano Competition. Other accolades include multiple special prizes at the 2023 Ljubljana Festival International Piano Competition and Fourth Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition.

Yang has performed worldwide across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the US, appearing with leading orchestras such as the Sydney Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Minnesota Orchestra, and Royal Philharmonic. Also a composer and improviser, his works include four piano concertos, which have been performed in China and Britain. Highlights include his Piano Concerto No. 4 Ode to the Jing River (2024) with the Opera North Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, and Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra between 2024-2025. His debut album Watercolour, featuring original works and eclectic repertoire, was released on Orchid Classics to critical acclaim.
