Mathis Cathignol

Borin 2000, Mathis Cathignol earned his Master’s degree in Piano in 2022 at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM), graduating with Highest Honours by unanimous decision. He is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Collaborative Piano with Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, while continuing studies with Célimène Daudet and Bernard d’Ascoli. He is supported by the Banque Populaire Foundation.

Mathis began his musical training at the Conservatoire Darius-Milhaud in Aix-en-Provence and later studied at the CNSMDP with Florent Boffard, Claire Désert, Romano Pallottini, and Roger Muraro. He has participated in masterclasses with Bertrand Chamayou, Nelson Goerner and Dominique Merlet. He has won numerous international prizes, including First Prize at the Pierre Barbizet Competition (2024) and Third Prize plus the JMF Award at the Épinal Competition (2025). Mathis has performed concerti by Beethoven, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Chopin, Stravinsky, and Fauré with numerous orchestras. In 2025, he appeared on Générations France Musique and performed in recitals at Nohant Festival ChopinFestival de Musique de Pontlevoy, and Festival International de Piano de La Roque-d’Anthéron.
