Carlo Guaitoli (Italy)
Carlo Guaitoli is the prize winner in some of the most important international piano competitions such as Rubinstein in Tel Aviv, IMC of Japan in Tokyo, Busoni in Bolzano, Unisa in Pretoria, and Casagrande in Terni. He has performed in Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, Middle East, and South Africa as a soloist with orchestras such as Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic and Israel Chamber Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, and Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
He has recorded for EMI, Sony, Universal, BMG, Brilliant Classics and several of his piano performances are included in the soundtracks of the films Perduto Amor and Musikanten by Franco Battiato and Fathers and Daughters by Gabriele Muccino.
Carlo is an eclectic artist; over the years he has collaborated as a pianist and conductor with artists from different backgrounds, including Tamas Vasary, Alexander Kniazev, Enrico Dindo, Luigi Piovano, Simone Rubino, Quartetto d’archi della Scala, Quintetto Bibiena, Wim Mertens, Antony Hegarty, and Asaf Avidan.
Since 1993, together with Franco Battiato, the renowned Italian composer and singer, he has recorded and toured all over the world as pianist and conductor with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra and other major European orchestras.
Currently Professor of Piano at the Conservatory in Terni, he has been Professor at NYU in Florence and has given masterclasses at the NYU Steinhardt, Juilliard School, Showa University in Tokyo, Kyungsung University in Busan and other Universities in Canada, South Africa and China.
He is the Artistic Director of the A. Casagrande International Piano Competition in Terni.
