Deborah Harry appointed RNCM Director of Finance

Deborah Harry facing the camera with black top and cream backgroundThe RNCM is delighted to announce the appointment of Deborah Harry as its new Director of Finance, commencing in February.

Deborah has extensive experience of the Higher Education sector, having been Chief Finance and Planning Officer at Sheffield Hallam University (2017 – 2022), Chief Finance Officer at the University of Lincoln (2011 – 2016) and Director of Finance at the University of Northampton (2007 – 2011).

As RNCM Director of Finance, Deborah will assume leadership and over-arching responsibility for the conservatoire’s financial strategy, overseeing the Finance and IT Departments and the Business Systems Development Unit.

She said: ‘I’m honoured to have been selected for this post in a such a prestigious organisation. It will be a privilege to work with the talented RNCM team to maintain and develop its financial and operational success, ensuring its continuing ability to excel in serving our students and community.’

Deborah replaces George Whalley who leaves the RNCM in February to take up the position of Deputy Chief Finance Officer at The University of Manchester.

Professor Linda Merrick CBE, Principal, added: ‘I am thrilled to welcome Deborah to the role of Director of Finance. As we build on the momentum of our 50th anniversary, it is a very exciting time to be joining the RNCM and I am looking forward to working together to further enhance our position as one of the world’s most progressive conservatoires.
