RNCM Nominated for Manchester Theatre Awards
Three RNCM productions have been nominated for Manchester Theatre Awards.
Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (above), performed in March last year, is competing against performances from Clonter Opera, Opera North and Buxton Festival for the title of Best Opera; Kurt Weill’s Street Scene (below), the RNCM’s December offering, is up against Dreamers at Oldham Coliseum, Noises Off at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton, and Lord of the Flies at The Lowry to win Best Ensemble; and RNCM Youth Perform’s Spring performance of On the Town finds itself in the running for the Youth Panel Award alongside productions from Contact Young Company, Truth about Youth, and Octagon Youth Theatre.
The Manchester Theatre Awards were established in 2011 to replace the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards, set up in 1981. The RNCM won a total of seven MEN Awards between 1990 and 2005, and was nominated an additional four times. Since the Manchester Theatre Awards took over, the RNCM has received four nominations for productions in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
This year’s ceremony takes place on 4 March at HOME. Tickets will be available soon.
