RNCM welcome Lord Callanan and Minister Hughes
We were thrilled to welcome Lord Callanan and Minister Hughes to the RNCM on Friday 8 October.
The Minister for Business, Energy and Corporate Responsibility and the Minister for Housing were onsite to learn more about the RNCM’s route to decarbonisation following an award of £3.4 million from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS).
Working in partnership with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and funded by Salix, the PSDS has distributed £78 million to organisations across the region. The significant grant to the RNCM means we now have an incredible opportunity to vastly improve the quality and efficiency of our estate.
During the visit, guests learnt more about the project from Neil Bohanna (Head of Operations), Dominic Wood (Environment and Operations Manager), Dr John Hindley (Director, Twelvetrees Consulting) and Sean Owen (Head of Low Carbon, GMCA), and spoke at length to final year students Beth Machell and Hoda Jahanpour, founders of the RNCM Climate Action Group. They also enjoyed a tour of building, including the roof where solar panels are being installed, and listened to the RNCM Brass Band rehearse in the Concert Hall.
