School of Strings welcomes Anneleen Lenaerts as International Visiting Tutor in Harp

We’re delighted to announce that Belgian harpist Anneleen Lenaerts has joined our School of Strings as International Visiting Tutor in Harp.

One of the leading soloists of her generation, Anneleen has been Principal Harpist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra since 2010. She has also performed worldwide with orchestras including the Symphony Orchestra of Bavarian Radio, Mozarteum Orchestra, Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Philadelphia Chamber Orchestra, Polish National Radio Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, and the National Orchestra of Belgium, and made her solo debut at venues such as Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, the Berliner Philharmonie, and Paris’ Salle Gaveau.

After the successful release of three harp concertos with the Brussels Philharmonic and a CD of works by Schumann and Schubert with clarinettist Dionysis Grammenos, Anneleen signed an exclusive recording contract with Warner Classics. Late last year her discography increased with Vienna Stories, a tribute to her musical home featuring members of the Vienna Philharmonic.

Anne-Marie O’Farrell, who leads our Harp Department, said: ‘I’m delighted to warmly welcome the renowned harpist Anneleen Lenaerts as International Visiting Tutor in Harp at the RNCM. As Principal Harpist with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, concerto soloist, and recitalist, she brings a wealth of expertise to our harp students, who will be tremendously enriched by her contribution to their training as performers.’

Anneleen, who studied at Brussels Conservatory, will present masterclasses to RNCM harp students each year. She said: ‘I’m very much looking forward to working with Anne-Marie O’Farrell and her wonderful students, to exchange knowledge and experiences and help them in the best way possible to grow and find their own identity on the harp.’
