Success for Aeris Trio at European Festival

The Aeris Trio achieved a great result at the European Music Festival, winning First Prize ‘cum laude’ in their chamber music category.

Taking place in Neerpelt, Belgium between 30 April and 4 May, the European Music Festival is open to talented ensembles and orchestras from all over the world. It is a unique, non-competitive event where participants perform to a panel of experts who award a prize (based on a percentage score) and offer valuable professional feedback.

Comprising second year students Hayley Parkes (piano), Steph Yim (clarinet) and Inés Mota (cello), the Aeris Trio performed music by Brahms, Schumann, John Ireland and Nino Rota, gaining between 90 – 97% from the jury. They then had the opportunity to play in the Laureate concert alongside other entrants.

Inés said: ‘We received some very valuable feedback from members of the panel, which consisted of chamber musicians, soloists and conductors. The experience proved to be so rewarding, and not only were we able to come back with a prize, but also with a sense of how important the act of making music together is for so many people.’
