James works at the reception desk in the entrance foyer of the RNCM, acting as the first point of contact and the public face for the RNCM. His roles include: providing a warm welcome and assistance to all users of the RNCM; giving out information about the college; receiving and redirecting phone calls; and handling deliveries to the building.

James is an alumnus of the RNCM, having graduated in 2022 with a MMus in Composition. He is currently in the process of applying for a PhD, combining the fields of composition and philosophy. James is also the Orchestral Manager of the Manchester Young Sinfonia, a student led orchestra which combines students from the RNCM and the University of Manchester in high-level performances of great contemporary and established orchestral repertoire. Between his life as a musician/theorist and his role as the face of the RNCM, James also teaches composition and violin to private students.
