Tutor in Opera and Dramatic Interpretation at the RNCM, Paul studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music and the London Opera Centre before joining the music staff of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he has worked for over 25 years.

He has also conducted many leading orchestras including the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, RPO, Philharmonia, LPO, BBC Concert Orchestra, RSNO, London Concert Orchestra, Athens State Orchestra, Tokyo PO and Iceland SO.
