RNCM Day of Percussion returns for another inspiring day of rhythm and creativity. We’re throwing open our doors for percussionists of all ages and abilities to participate in a day packed with workshops, clinics, and concerts. Whether you’re a working professional, studying percussion, or picking up a drum for the first time in our discovery session, we have something for you.

10am / RNCM Theatre
Big Play with Andrea Vogler

Start the day off with a bang! RNCM Professor of Percussion Andrea Vogler opens the festival by leading all participants in a massed percussion ensemble. This practical session is tailored to all ages and abilities and an opportunity for budding percussionists to explore alongside experienced players.

Emmanuel Séjourné – Vibraphone in Contemporary Music

Explore phrasing, effects, and writing for keyboard percussion with one of the instrument’s leading voices.

Tabla Maestro Sanju Sahai presents an inspiring session featuring live demonstrations, open discussions, and personalised insights into the art of tabla.

BackBeat Percussion Quartet – 30th Anniversary Performance

Simone Rebello, Damien Harron, Richard Charles, and Chris Bastock reunite to revisit landmark works from the ensemble’s history.

Kai Strobel – Small Percussion Clinic

Discover the expressive potential of finger cymbals and bird whistles in this focused session.

Paul Clarvis – Percussion on Film Soundtracks

Paul Clarvis has recorded a huge number of film soundtracks, including for the recent Hollywood blockbuster Mufasa: The Lion King, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings. He presents here an intriguing look behind the scenes at his work and offers insights into how to best equip yourself musically to work in this area.

Single Session Ticket (for any single daytime session, excludes 11.20am Percussion Discovery Workshop and 6pm Evening Concert)

Please note we strongly recommend that anyone under the age of 14 is accompanied by an adult. Parents or guardians observing workshops or participatory events to accompany their children do not need to purchase a ticket. However, all audience members must hold a valid ticket to attend the Evening Concert: Kai Strobel with RNCM Percussionists (6pm).
