Welcome
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our annual RNCM Christmas Family Day featuring workshops and a screening of Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas with live music from WFEL Fairey Band.
There’s a few things we’d like to let you know about ahead of your visit to help you make the most of your time with us.
When You Arrive
There will be a Welcome Desk in reception, and it will be staffed throughout the day. Please report here on arrival to collect everything you need, including a schedule of the workshops you’ve been allocated. Please have your e-ticket(s) ready to show to a member of our team. Please note that all activities start at 10.00am for the morning session and 2.15pm for the afternoon session.
Workshops
There are four 30-minute workshops that are repeated throughout the event. Each booking (including adults and children) will have the opportunity to attend two of these workshops.
Activities will take place at the following times:
Morning Sessions: 10.00am/10.40am/11.20am
Afternoon Sessions: 2.15pm/2.55pm/3.35pm
Workshop choices:
Circus Skills: Brush up on your circus skills with The Circus House.
Super Mario Galaxy: A performance of the soundtrack from this Nintendo classic.
Strictly Come Christmas: Get in the festive mood with dancers from the Manchester Dance Centre.
Singalonga Christmas: Singalong to some of your Christmas favourites.
All members of a booking will be scheduled to attend the same workshops. You will receive an email notification with information about signing up for these workshops, and the deadline for sign-up is Thursday 14 December 4.00pm. We’ll allocate places on a first-come-first-service basis, and we’ll do our best to schedule your top two choices. Activities are suitable for all ages, and we reserve the right to make changes if necessary.
If you’re not allocated your top choices, we may be able to make adjustments on the day at our discretion and subject to availability. You can also sign-up on the day, but some activities may be full.
Drop-in activities
When you’re not in a workshop, you can take part in one of our drop-in activities. Face-painting and creative art activities are available throughout the day on the concourses to drop in and out of whenever you wish. You do not need to book for these.
Performance of Shaun the Sheep: The Flight Before Christmas – film and live brass band
This performance lasts around an hour and also includes Christmas music. It is a relaxed performance and takes place in the RNCM Concert Hall. All seating for this event is allocated. Your e-ticket will have your seat number on it and you will need to show this on entry to the performance.
Clothing
This is an informal day and Christmas-themed clothing is encouraged! Please note that we have a buggy park and coat rails, but no official cloakroom. Please keep important belongings with you.
Photography
We’ll be taking photographs throughout the day for our own use in publicity material, just let the photographer know if you don’t want to be photographed.
Food
You’re welcome to bring your own food and drink. Our Café Bar will also be open from 9.30am-5.30pm serving sandwiches, pizzas, snacks, and cakes. Other hot food will be served from 12-2.30pm. Hot and cold drinks, including a festive hot drinks menu, will be available throughout the day, and our bar is open from 12pm.
First Aid / Lost Children / General Questions
Please go to the Welcome Desk or speak to a member of RNCM Staff – we will be wearing lanyards and Santa hats! Children must be accompanied at all times.
