Name: Dr Sara Ascenso

Role: Lecturer in Musicians’ Health and Wellbeing

About: Sara joined us in January 2019 as a Lecturer in Musicians’ Health and Wellbeing. The appointment was a first for UK conservatoires and marked a significant step forward for the RNCM and our commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of our students. She said: ‘We want our students to learn how to make music with excellence but also how to live fulfilling lives as musicians and as human beings more generally. This means that what they are learning is not only about doing but also about being. We want to maximize our efforts to make sure they experience what being well as a musician means during their time at the RNCM.’

Did you know? Sara is a clinical psychologist as well as a classically trained pianist.
