Name: Iyad Sughayer

Role: Pianist, RNCM Associate Member, Alumnus

About: Born in Amman, Jordanian-Palestinian pianist Iyad completed his International Artist Diploma at the RNCM in 2019 with Murray McLachlan, Martino Tirimo and Graham Scott, the same year he became a City Music Foundation Artist. Soon after graduation, Iyad was selected as one of just seven musicians by the prestigious, and highly competitive, Young Classical Artists Trust programme. In 2021 he was made an Associate Member of the RNCM, and is an inaugural YCAT Concordia Artist. He said: ‘I am forever grateful for the wonderful support I’ve had at the RNCM over the last 11 years. I am very fortunate to have studied and worked with many inspirational musicians and colleagues! I look forward to continuing my journey here as I am lucky to call the RNCM and Manchester my home.’

Did you know? In 2022 Iyad co-founded and launched a new specialist music school – the Mashrek Academy of Music, with the Mashrek International School in Amman. The Academy will welcome students from across Jordan, discovering and nurturing a new generation of creators and musicians.
