‘Ever wanted a book or a piece of music and turned to the College Library for help? If you got what you needed the chances are that it was at least in part thanks to the unseen work of Geoff Thomason who, since 1985, has catalogued every new printed item added to the shelves. His expertise and professionalism have made it increasingly easy to search for and find whatever is needed, be it a one-page song, long out of print, or a lengthy reading list to feed an essay or dissertation.
Geoff’s also been a ‘face of the RNCM’ outside of the College, serving on professional committees, contributing to reference books and music journals, and presenting papers – most notably in the 2018 Paris-Manchester project, when his paper drew on research for his 2016 doctorate about Adolph Brodsky – a ‘face’ of one of the RNCM’s predecessors.’ Tonya Chirgwin
