‘I would like to propose my late husband Terence Greaves (Terry) as a big part and influence of the early development of the RNCM or the NCM as it was at that time. We arrived and saw the College when it was still being built. Terry started work as Dean of Development in January 1973, working very closely with the Principal John Manduell, and with Ida Carroll (Dean of Management) and Dr John Wray (Dean of Studies). He played an extremely active and busy part in all the almost 20 years he worked at the RNCM, developing new courses, attending student concerts, and organising and helping in every possible way for a smooth running and successful college life for every student, many of whom are now very eminent and well known musicians as soloists and in orchestras or as teachers all over the world.’ Sheila Greaves

‘Our father was a very modest man who might have been reluctant to put himself forward for the RNCM50 Faces gallery, but he deserves to be there as he was someone everybody in college knew and liked. Although a highly talented musician and composer himself, his other talent – getting everybody to get along – must have done so much to help with the amalgamation of two distinct colleges, back in 1973.  We’re very proud to see him up there with his friends and colleagues.’   Alison Brown, Susan Green and Philippa Greaves
