Undertaking paid work at the RNCM as a student
Many students can earn extra money during their studies by undertaking work with us.
This could be in our Catering or Front of House teams, as Student Ambassadors, or for one-off performance engagements.
However, before you apply, it’s important that you understand what’s involved so that you’re in a position to start when needed.
Right to work
Payment for work at the RNCM must be paid for via our payroll and there is a legal requirement for us to see evidence of your right to work in the UK before you start any jobs or projects.
How do I show that I have the right to work in the UK?
This can be demonstrated through your passport (for UK and Irish citizens) or through a sharecode (for non UK and Irish Citizens).
UK and Irish Citizens: The easiest document to provide is your passport. Alternative acceptable documents can be found on the gov.uk website.
Non-UK and Irish Citizens: The first thing you need to do is get a share code online.
What happens next?
Before you undertake your first paid work, the RNCM employee who engaged you will have passed on some details to our HR team, who will also send you a link to complete the information we need to ensure you’re added to our payroll. Once you have completed this you will be sent an employee ID number and details of how to access any payslips via our self-service portal.
