About
Over 150,000 people in the UK are affected by Parkinson’s which is the ‘the fastest growing neurological condition in the world’ (Parkinson’s UK). Dr Michelle Phillips at the RNCM and a team of world-leading researchers have explored the role of music in the lives of people with Parkinson’s.
This special showcase highlights the outcomes of a recent project, where RNCM staff and student composers collaborated with researchers and individuals living with Parkinson’s to create brand-new music, crafted especially for and with them.
We’re always looking for ways to enhance our public performance programme and accessibility is high on our agenda. This Spring, we’re pleased to introduce several relaxed concerts as we strive to make our offer as accessible as possible. During these events, audiences can expect:
- A relaxed door policy so you can enter and exit the performance whenever you feel is necessary
- A designated ‘chill-out’ space if you need quiet time during the show
- Heightened lighting in the audience seating area
- Enhanced on-stage presentation, with descriptions of what will happen in the performance
