The RNCM Gold Medal celebrates solo performance at its best from the next generation of musicians. Join us for a day of outstanding live music, rounded off with the Winner’s Announcement awarding the College’s most prestigious prize to one of our soloists.

Previous winners include Jason Wong (percussion), Dominic Degavino (piano), and Abel Selaocoe (cello).

3.30pm / Jeanette Szeto (viola)

Jeanette Szeto is a versatile violist, composer, and creative voice based in London and Manchester. Blurring the lines between classical performance, improvisation, and cross-disciplinary art, she reshapes the musical landscape through bold collaborations, genre-fluid programming, and dynamic expression.

4.15pm / Daniel Hohm (euphonium)

Daniel Hohm’s euphonium playing is defined by clarity, emotional depth, and technical mastery. He strives to reveal the instrument’s full expressive range, engaging audiences through a powerful solo voice that blends tradition with innovation.

5.15pm / Madeleine Brown (piano)

Described as having ‘the potential to become a major voice in the classical music world‘ (Peter Donohoe CBE), 23-year-old Madeleine Brown is establishing herself as one of the most exciting young pianists of this generation.

5.55pm / João Luís  (saxophone)

Originally from a small town in Portugal, João Luís blends classical, jazz, and various genres, aiming to fuse music with other art forms. His goal is to create immersive, boundary-pushing performances that evoke emotion and invite audiences into new, creative experiences

6.45pm / Winner Announcement

The 2025 Gold Medal Classical winner will be announced by the jury panel.
