Junior Fellow in Accompaniment
Salary Grade: £9,773.75 per annum

Prospective applicants should ideally have completed postgraduate accompaniment studies and already have a broad working knowledge of the vocal and instrumental duo repertoire. Successful applicants will be directed to work for 350 hours per annum with students and tutors across all the performance schools. Fellowships are for one year and Junior Fellows are expected to be resident in Manchester for the duration of the award. Mentor support will be provided by relevant key staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
– Accompanying classes and tutorials within all performance schools (Vocal; Strings; Wind, Brass and Percussion)
– Performing in competitions, concerts and recitals within the college for all performance schools
– Providing accompaniment support for assessments – vocal techniques assessments and end-of-year assessments for all performance schools
– Other duties as directed by the Head of Accompaniment
The employment contract for this role would be subject to agreement of work dates, which can only be changed upon a subsequent mutual discussion and agreement. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
Audition Requirements:
Following initial selection, successful applicants will be invited for an in-person audition at RNCM and they should prepare the following:
– A string duo sonata movement or a group of songs, approx. 8 minutes in duration. (NB The RNCM is unable to provide duo partners for the audition.)
– A short solo piano piece
– Quick study, prepared in the warm-up room
– Sight-reading
– Interview
