About
Part of RNCM International Brass Band Festival.
RNCM Brass Band welcomes back Katrina Marzella-Wheeler, an RNCM alumna, to conduct an eclectic programme. The journey begins with a haunting rendition of Simon Dobson’s HorrorShow, written in memoriam of people who died in the Paris terror attacks of November 2015. This is followed by Elgar Howarth’s lively Mosaic.
World-renowned trombonist David Bremner appears with the RNCM Brass Band to perform Derek Bourgeois’ Concerto for Trombone, a piece most notable for its third movement, ‘Presto’. Up next, an intriguing and texturally rich work by Edward Gregson, the festival’s featured composer, inspired by Stravinksy’s Quatre études for orchestra. To finish, Kelly Marie Murphy’s Drumming the Plain, the Horseman is Coming invigorates with its charging and surging chromatic lines that propel the piece to a thrilling finale.
