Breakout 1

Music in the Digital Age

The music industry has changed a huge amount since the RNCM first opened its doors in 1973, and new technologies continue to shape its direction. This interactive session will include a demonstration of Studio 8, the flagship resource of Ensemble+, a project focussed on high-tech remote teaching and communication.
You will also look behind the scenes at projects led by Dr Michelle Phillips Head of Enterprise, Dr Larry Goves Head of Practice Research and Deputy Head of Composition, and Stuart McCallum Deputy Head of Popular Music. The session will end with an informal Q&A and discussion.

Underrepresented – Diversity and inclusion at the RNCM

Our Head of Programming Richard Collins introduces student performances of music by underrepresented composers. There will be a chance to hear from the performers and from staff and student members of the RNCM’s Underrepresented Group about their work to celebrate overlooked musical voices both today and within the world history of music.

Find out about our invaluable work with under 18s and our local communities, aimed at inspiring and engaging future musicians. Our Young Programmes Manager Hannah Bayley will discuss the work we do to break down barriers to music education.

Applicant Information Session

In this session, our Admissions, Student Finance and Wellbeing teams will walk you through the application process and outline the different resources available to guide, advise and support students throughout their studies. They’ll also be joined by our Development team who will discuss the important role of funding and fundraising.
This session will be streamed and recorded for visitors who prefer to catch up later.
