Covid-19 Audience Protocol

We’re looking forward to welcoming audiences back to the RNCM this Autumn.

Over the past 12 months we’ve had to prioritise our venues for student activity, ensuring they receive the best possible experience during this time. Now, as we ease restrictions for our 2021/22 academic year, we’re thrilled to say that live events will resume, and we can’t wait for you to take your seat!

Keeping You Safe

Everyone at the RNCM has worked tirelessly to keep our community safe throughout the pandemic and we want that to continue as we reopen to the public.

If you’re planning to attend a live performance in one of our venues, there are a few things that we expect you to do. Everything you need to know is covered in the information below, but if you’re unsure of anything, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Attending a Live Performance at the RNCM

Will I need Covid Certification to attend a live performance at the RNCM?

Yes, we require all audience members (including staff and students) over the age of 18 to present appropriate Covid Certification to gain access to the building for a performance.

What is Covid Certification and how do I get it?

Covid Certification is proof of double vaccination with a UK recognised Covid-19 vaccine, a recent negative test (within 24 hours) or proof of immunity via the NHS Covid Pass, a certified NHS letter or email.

Full details of how to obtain your certification (and any relevant exemptions) are outlined here.

Do staff and students need to show Covid Certification for a live performance?

Yes, while it’s not mandatory to access the building for work and study, all RNCM staff and students must show Covid Certification to attend a live performance.

Do I need to wear a face covering when I arrive?

Yes, we expect audience members to wear a face covering when arriving at the RNCM and when you make your way to the venue.

Do I need to wear a face covering when I’m watching the event?

No, face coverings will be at your discretion once you’re seated.

What if I have access needs?

We’ll do all we can to make your visit as comfortable as possible. All our venues can be accessed via lifts, and our helpful staff will be on hand to support any other needs (such as ticketing and taking you to your seat). Subject to availability, we may also be able to provide accessible parking.

Will you be serving food and drink?

Yes, our Bar and Café will be open, serving food and drink from our bar menu. Like most places, we’ve gone cashless, so please order and pay at our till points using card or Apple Pay only.

Is there anything else I can do to support safety at the RNCM?

We ask all visitors to respect the way-finding and distancing signs around the building, which are designed to ensure your safety. We’d also like everyone to be considerate of other audience members, giving them space in all public areas (including the bar and café) as much as possible.

And most importantly, please do not attend if you are showing any symptoms of Covid-19.

What extra things have you done to keep us safe?

To further protect our community, we’ve implemented:

  • An enhanced cleaning regime throughout the building
  • Provision of hand sanitiser throughout the building
  • Increased ventilation of the venue

Where can I see what events are coming up?

All events are available on our website.
