We are transforming the RNCM Concert Hall into a bigger, better and more comfortable venue for audiences and performers alike - thanks for all your generous donations so far that have helped make it happen!
The transformed venue will be a huge asset to Manchester, used by local community groups, students and visiting musicians from all over the world for the enjoyment of audiences across the North West.
You still have the opportunity to donate to the cause and sponsor a seat in our newly refurbished venue. Show your support today and help secure the RNCM Concert Hall’s future for the next 40 years.
Our redevelopment will provide Manchester with a stunning and much needed 750 capacity music venue. With flexible seating, incorporating a balcony and the option for additional seating at the front stalls, the Concert Hall will keep its current atmosphere and acoustics while allowing larger audiences to enjoy top class concerts.
When the Concert Hall reopens, we will be bringing more music to Manchester from around the world, providing local community groups with a state of the art venue and providing our students with the experience of performing in a modern space, befitting of their talent and potential.
An asset to Manchester’s music scene, the transformed Concert Hall will enable us to showcase world-class performers in a more intimate environment. Our students will also be given the chance to develop their careers by performing in front of larger audiences.
State of the art technical facilities
Constructed in 1972, the RNCM Concert Hall is now more than 40 years old and still retains its original technical equipment. Whilst the venue was built with the best equipment available at the time, it is now in need of a 21st Century revamp.
The project will upgrade the Concert Hall with new lighting and sound facilities, offering state of the art technical equipment reflecting that which our students will use in the professional world.
Updated technical equipment will also benefit visiting promoters and artists, enabling us to develop our programme and build on the success of recent events such as Alt-J, Tim Burgess, David Byrne and Paul Lewis & Imogen Cooper.
We want our audiences to enjoy their experience in the Concert Hall as much as our performers enjoy their time on stage. Replacing the seating throughout will make your visit more comfortable and enjoyable. We are also installing a proper air conditioning system that will keep everyone cool in summer and warm in winter.
If you have a favourite seat in the auditorium, you can sponsor it with a plaque for £600. Your personalised plaque will then stay on the seat for the lifespan of the Concert Hall. For more information about this, please contact Tom Bevan in the Development Office on 0161 907 5270 or download the Seat Donation Form.
