Understanding Your Offer
Notification of your offer is given via UCAS Hub in the first instance.
If you’re successful in gaining a place to study with us, you’ll receive an official offer letter from our Principal. This will include confirmation of your chosen course, any scholarship you may have been awarded and the next steps you need to take.
There are two main types of offers: Guaranteed and Reserve, both of which may be presented as Conditional or Unconditional depending on whether or not you have fulfilled all of the necessary entrance requirements.
Information about each type of offer, together with details of how to accept, are outlined below, but if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Guaranteed Offers
Guaranteed Unconditional (GU)
You have satisfied the entry requirements, and are guaranteed a place to study at the RNCM.
Guaranteed Conditional (GU)
You are guaranteed a place to study at the RNCM if you fulfil all necessary requirements (such as achieving the relevant qualifications and/or English Language level) in advance.
Reserve Offers
Receiving a Reserve Offer means that you may still gain a place to study with us.
Guaranteed Offer replies are monitored carefully, and Reserve Offers are converted as and when places become available. Conversions are not guaranteed but can happen at any time during the year. If successful, notification will be given via UCAS Conservatoires Track with further details sent by email from our Admissions Team.
Reserve Unconditional (VU)
You have met the entry requirements and have a reserve place.
Reserve Conditional (VC)
You will have a Reserve place if you meet all necessary requirements.
Accepting Your Offer
The deadline for accepting your offer depends on when you receive all of your decisions on your UCAS Hub. If you fail to accept your offer by the stated deadline it will be automatically declined. For 2024 entry, these are:
Decisions on UCAS | Deadline |
3 January | 1 February |
15 March | 10 April |
15 May | 5 June |
10 July | 24 July |
1 August | 10 September |
Guaranteed Unconditional (GU)
First Choice: Accepting this means you must decline (D) all other offers.
Second Choice: If your first choice (VU or VC) is unsuccessful, accepting this means you’ll have a place at the RNCM.
Guaranteed Conditional (GC)
First Choice: Accepting this means you must decline (D) all other offers.
Second Choice: If you’ve met the conditions of your offer and your first choice (VU or VC) is unsuccessful, accepting this means you’ll have a place at the RNCM.
Reserve Unconditional (VU) and Conditional (VC)
Accepting this means you can accept any type of offer from another conservatoire as your second choice. If the offer changes to Guaranteed (GC1 or GU1), your second choice will be rejected. If your Reserve offer is not converted to Guaranteed and you’ve accepted a GU or GC (and met the conditions of your offer) as a second choice from another institution, you’ll have a place there.
