Orbits
Orbits (2015–) is an ongoing series of musical compositions initiated by composer Emily Howard and mathematician Lasse Rempe-Gillen [University of Liverpool] and influenced by recent mathematical research in dynamical systems.
The series includes Orbit 1a and Orbit 2a both written for experimental duo scapegoat (saxophone and crotales) and Chaos or Chess written for Jack Adler-McKean (microtonal tuba); these works were influenced by research in dynamical systems [Rempe-Gillen / van Strien].
The project has been supported by the Leverhulme Trust through an Artist in Residence grant (Howard was Leverhulme Trust Artist in Residence at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Liverpool from February – November 2015) and Rempe-Gillen’s 2012 Leverhulme Prize.
