Annual Appeal

Supporting our musicians to thrive

Our Annual Appeal is raising vital support to boost our Access to Learning Fund – a lifeline for students experiencing financial hardship.

Over 950 talented young musicians study at the RNCM each year. They have all worked hard to get here, and we don’t want financial circumstances to prevent any of them from fulfilling their potential.

Three students walk in a line down a road away from the camera, two holding violin cases.

Maintenance loans have failed to increase with inflation, meaning some students are having to take on 25+ hours paid work a week to cover living costs. The pressures of the cost-of-living crisis also mean an increased number of students are facing hardship and are unable to afford essentials, including food to fuel their practice, which can result in some students having to make the difficult decision to interrupt or withdraw from their studies.

By supporting our appeal, you can help us to:

  • Distribute more hardship funding to students in financial emergency and prevent interruption to study.
  • Establish a new virtual food larder, helping students with food vouchers and discrete access to RNCM café credit.
  • Create a new opportunity fund for students most in need, removing financial barriers so they can take part in invaluable artistic enrichment projects.

A student’s training shouldn’t suffer because of unexpected crisis, nor should they be forced to miss out on transformative opportunities in order to make ends meet.

  • £10 could provide a student facing financial challenges with lunch and a hot dinner through our new virtual food larder, making sure they have access to nutritious food to fuel their practice.
  • £50 could remove financial barriers so a student can attend a masterclass with a world-class musician.
  • £100 could provide two students with lunches and hot dinners for a week through our new virtual food larder, ensuring they have the energy and concentration to make the most of their studies.
  • £250 would enable a student to access the opportunity fund and take part in 25 hours of rehearsals with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra, working side-by-side with professional musicians.
  • £500 could provide urgent support to a student to cover an unexpectedly high and unaffordable utility bill.
  • £1,000 could provide a hardship grant to pay for one month of emergency accommodation and prevent a student from disrupting their studies.

Donate today to help remove the financial barriers that prevent opportunities for those students most in need.
