Bofan Ma
Bofan has long believed in the charm of live concert performances. He regards the intricate entanglement between sound and (sound-making) actions as the key mechanism that forms this charm.
Bofan’s research therefore explores such an interactive relationship.
He aims to develop a compositional voice that envisions ‘what is seen’, and that facilitates a multi-dimensional communication over a prospective performance.
The project will hence lead to a new, open, and inviting body of creative output.
Incorporating physical/instrumental theatre studies, the game culture, and object-as-agent etc., these works are likely to foreground elements naturally embedded in a live concert setting.
They will also challenge how a ‘score’ takes its shape and therefore be bodily responded to.
